Choosing A Bridesmaid Dress That Everyone Will Love

Hey guys! So we’re just going to keep on going with this bridesmaid blog thing we’ve got going for a little while longer. Today I’m going to talk about choosing bridesmaid dresses and mixing and matching colors if that’s something you want for your wedding! Now I’ve never been a bride, but I have been a bridesmaid a few times so I’ve got some firsthand experience with good and not so good bridesmaid dresses and I’m sharing my knowledge with you today!

Qualities to look for in a dress

When you’re out shopping or shopping online, there are a few major things to look for and decide on before you pick the dresses for your ladies!

First, decide if you want the dresses to be long or short. Take into account the season and setting for your wedding. Also take into account how comfortable your bridesmaids will be with showing a little leg if you’re leaning towards short dresses!

Next choose a color (or range of colors) that go with the colors and feel of your wedding. Go shopping with multiple color options in mind just in case you fall in love with a dress that doesn't come in the exact shade you had your heart set on.

Choosing a style is the next step. If you’re having a very whimsical wedding, you probably don't want your bridesmaids in skin tight dresses. Go for a style that will complement the rest of the wedding (and your wedding dress!).

This next one might be the most important. Make sure that the dress is comfortable!!! Take into account curvier bridesmaids and how the dress will feel in the bust, hips, etc. before selecting the dress.

Mixing colors?

I really love brides that have their bridesmaids in a range of styles and colors that still flow together seamlessly. We’re going to take a look at a few examples of this!

I think that the key to pulling off the mismatched look is choosing one quality to keep the same throughout your line of bridesmaids. For example, have each dress incorporate jewels, but in different shades of a color for an elegant feel that still has a sense of whimsicalness.

If you have a smaller wedding party (3 or less), I would recommend staying away from mixing colors to avoid looking like the dresses accidentally were different colors.

Shopping for the dresses

This is the fun part!! Take only your maid of honor, or your whole bridesmaid crew and head to a couple of stores! Do your research before a shopping trip and have a couple of select styles in mind so that the stylist can get a feel for what you’re going for. And of course make sure that each dress you try on comes in at least one of the colors you’re considering!

I hope y’all enjoyed this blog as much as I enjoyed writing it! Come back next week to see what we talk about!
