House Parties

Yesterday my roommate came home and said that she was asked to be part of a house party for a wedding. None of us had no idea what that meant, so we did some research and I thought I would share with you!

Having a house party is a great way to avoid having a giant bridal party. House party members typically help with the bridal shower and bachelorette party just like the bridesmaids. On the day of the wedding, the house party is assigned tasks such as handing out programs, serving cake, and manning the guest book. The house party is still involved in wedding pictures, the only thing a house party traditionally does not do is stand at the altar with the bride — that spot is reserved for bridesmaids. House Party ladies can be seated in the first or second row, just behind family, and can be included in the wedding program.

Typically the bride will ask the house party to wear the same color as the bridesmaids or all coordinate with each other. You can also have them wear a different shade of the color your bridesmaids are wearing!
